What Ford Explorers Are Being Recalled?
Ford has issued a recall for the 2017 and 2021 Ford Explorer models.
Ford Explorer 2017
So far, Ford has issued 10 recalls for the 2017 Ford Explorer to fix problems that range from faulty seats to oil leaks in the engine. With the latest Ford Explorer recall, the company seeks to fix faulty A-pillar trim retention clips. The company has also announced its dealers will inspect and replace the faulty A-pillar trims free of charge.
Ford Explorer 2021
Ford Motor Company has issued multiple recalls for the 2021 Ford Explorer to fix problems ranging from faulty airbag fasteners to rear suspension issues. The latest Ford Explorer 2021 recall stems from a defective rear axle horizontal mounting bolt. Ford Motor Company has promised to cover the cost of replacing the subframe bushing and the rear axle bolt and repairing any resultant damage.
Details of the Ford Explorer Recall
Ford is recalling the 2017 Explorer. A defective retention clip may cause the trim to detach, become a road hazard, and increase the road accident risk. The carmaker recalls the 2021 Ford Explorer to eliminate the risk of the rear axle horizontal mounting bolt fracturing and disconnecting the driveshaft. A disconnected drive shaft increases the crash risk while the car is in motion. It also poses the risk of a vehicle rollaway if the driver doesn’t engage the parking brake.

What Is the Most Recent Ford Recall?
The most recent Ford Recall dates back to February 23, 2024.
Model Affected
2023 – 2024 Ford Bronco
Reason for Recall
The adhesive used to join the left and right rear panel quarter glass to the roof was incorrectly applied. As a result, there’s a risk of the glass panels separating and detaching from the roof. This allows water to leak into the car.
Ford’s Response
On realizing the problem, Ford announced a safety recall of the affected 2023-2024 Bronco® SUVs and clarified that the Ford Bronco Heritage® Edition didn’t have the defect. The carmaker allowed car owners to schedule an inspection by a mobile service technician through the FordPass App. Ford has promised to start fixing the problem once the parts become available.
Safety Precautions
Owners of the 2017 Ford Explorer can schedule a free inspection through the FordPass App and have a mobile inspector assess their vehicles as they await replacement parts availability. 2021 Ford Explorer owners should schedule an appointment with the Ford dealer immediately to avoid further damage to the car and lower the risk of getting into a crash. Meanwhile, they should always use the parking brakes when parking their trucks.
